Florida Wedding Photographer | Wedding Portrait Photography
In the beginning… Matt was employed and busy as a top model in New York in the early 80’s but quickly realized that his passion would be found behind the camera rather than in front of the lens. Matt moved into the early and emerging fashion Mecca of Miami’s South Beach building his career photographing models from top agencies and completing editorial shoots for European clients.
On the business side of life… The success of these early assignments led to a diverse roster of clients, representing music, entertainment, advertising, and editorial worlds. Matt’s work has been published in more than 80 countries and has been found on covers and in the pages of some of the most influential and prestigious publications including Harper’s Bazaar, W, and Vogue. Being responsible for developing and shooting the award winning Vassarette lingerie campaign, he has also had the privilege to complete assignments for Alltel, Sony, Georgia-Pacific and Coca-Cola to name but a few. His photographs have been exhibited in Milan, Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta.
Introspectively… Matt’s images reflect the sense of humor and comfort that his subjects experiences under his guidance. Not only does Matt want to capture the most accurate images for his clients but also he wants to reveal the honesty in the subject. His focus tends to be classic beauty in both form and function. Matt encourages and forwards his positive attitude to each subject, which results in the most faithful representation of the experience possible.
When involved… with Matt on a shoot, the subject must feel comfortable and be the “star” in front of the camera. His subjects need to know that they are in a safe place where they can be themselves without judgment. The camera records- never judges. Matt has the ability to put those before him at ease with his charismatic personality and playful sense of humor. It won’t take long before you recognize you are being photographed by someone who is studying you. To hear Matt say it, “I get invited to take part in the most important day and party in someones life and get to do what I love to do. It doesn’t get better than that!”
Today, Matt finds himself…. residing in Florida with his wife, daughter, two Australian Shepherds, and miniature dachshund. His belief for and in the future is that we all stop taking our Earth and each other for granted.
“I believe in the power of the photo’s magic, the ability to touch the soul with light and shadow; to excite through color and balance”. “Through the eye of a photographer a glance becomes a romance, wind becomes a dancer when introduced to fabric, and motion is stopped in a heightened sense with the click of a shutter”. “I strive for that split-second magic that happens when motion, mood and mystery by come together to form powerful color, and black & white photographs”. “The many forces within my life have influenced my vision”.” From the early images I grew up seeing by Avedon and Skrebneski, my time living in Paris and New York, the friends I adore from Milan to L.A., and the compelling memory of Miami Beach; all have shaped me in quite an indescribable way”. “I enjoy the challenge of creating modern images, powerful visual stories that speak effectively of life and the many ways we live it”.” Art, images, visual; it’s all is like water to me”. “I need it to survive”. “Through the years I’ve taken many timely images which have become timeless of women, movie-stars, and personalities.”
“I have photographed campaigns that I have charged tens of thousands of dollars for and I have captured images that I have charged nothing for”. “I love what I do for a living and direct that passion toward your project”.
